10 Things To Do and See in Somerville, MA

When we travel, we love visiting vibrant neighborhoods that locals love, especially college towns. Somerville, MA is home to over 80,000 and growing. There's so much to do here. We put together this initial list of our favorites. Check it out:

Looking for things to do in Davis Square? Looking for things to do in Union Square? We lived in Somerville, Massachusetts for many years, and there’s just such an amazing energy here. Definitely explore on your own, but here are some ideas to get you started.
1

Shop in the Bow Market in Union Square. After stop by for some delicious Mexican food at El Potro – yum!

2

Take a Somerville Food Tour in Davis Square or Union Square to uncover our favorites and unlock local history.

3

Visit The Burren for a live show and meal: we’ve seen everything from japanese klezmer to neighborhood folk music at this awesome venue and irish pub. Also Warehouse XI and The Jungle have great live music!

4

Rent a bike and bike down Minuteman Trail

6

Thrift shop in Davis Square along Elm Street (and the Goodwill here isn’t bad either!)

7

Outlet shopping at Assembly Row, home to LEGO Center, and check out the East Somerville restaurants such as La Brasa.

8

Try a new cocktail at one of the speakeasies or bars such as Saloon, spoke, RebelRebel, or backbar.

9

Wait in line for breakfast at some of our favorite spots such as: Ball Square Cafe (we love their Pancake Delight and then after try the half moon at Lyndell’s) or The Neighborhood (try the cream of wheat!)

10

Visit Aeronaut Brewery & one of our favorite small batch chocolate producers Somerville Chocolate which is so innovative (buy a bar or two from their vending machine outside their booth). You can also try Tasting Counter which is one of the best tasting menus in Boston.

There’s so much more to see and do in Somerville. Hope to meet you soon on a Somerville Food Tour. Our Davis Square Food Tours run weekly, and our Union Square Food Tours run Saturdays at 3pm. Book today via offthebeatenpathfoodtours.com
