Are you looking for the best birthday cake in Boston? How about find the best birthday cake in Cambridge? Where to order the best cakes in Boston! We have tried a lot of cake over the years living here, and although we recommend our Chocolate Tour or Donut Tour, here are the best cakes:

Best Birthday Cakes in Boston, MA and Cambridge, MA

1

Piro’s Bakery (Methuen, MA) – Strawberry Shortcake

OK so this bakery is north of Boston, but it is hands down the BEST cake I’ve ever had in my life. Their strawberry shortcake is incredible. You must try it! Piro’s Bakery is famous for their delectable birthday strawberry shortcake. You will NOT be disappointed!

2

Harvard Square Chocolate Tour or Donut Tour! (Harvard Square, Cambridge)

Well, what’s better than cake? Maybe chocolate or donuts? We think so! We love hosting birthdays and other celebrations on our Harvard Square tours. We go in search of the best sugary treats in town on these tours — from mochi donuts to gelato frappes. You’ll love it!

3

Ice Cream Cake Options (Cambridge, MA)

Okay our favorite ice cream cakes (besides Baskin-Robbins which is just plain nostalgic for me) are: Honeycomb Creamery, Gracie’s, JP Licks, and Rancatores/Toscanini’s. Each has high quality flavorful ice cream. You honestly can’t go wrong and should try them all.

4

Mamaleh’s (Kendall Square, Cambridge) – Chocolate Cake

Ever take a trip to NYC and get multi-layer cake at the Hard Rock Cafe or somewhere? I did once, and I found myself eating it from the little hotel fridge at 2am. But I digress. This Mamaleh’s chocolate cake reminds me of that type of cake. It’s just really good. They use five layers of Valrhona frosting – so it’s basically chocolate x chocolate!

5

Wegman’s (Various Cities) – Especially the Chocolate Cake

Truthfully I feel lame recommending a grocery store bakery, but Wegman’s has incredible cakes. And they deliver if you should need it. I’m a chocoholic, so I’m definitely partial to their yummy chocolate birthday cake. It’s rich, and the icing is incredibly flavorful.

6

Solodko (Brighton, Boston, MA) – Ukranian Honey Cake

Weirdly my grandma once had a russian friend bake me a honey cake for one of my birthdays, and I never forgot it. This multi-layer cake is truly spectacular, and it’s hard to find. Well we were excited to visit Solodko in Brighton. They have two versions of the cake, one with chocolate, and they also design custom cakes as well for birthdays. It was started by two BC alum sisters!

We love birthdays in Boston and enjoy serving lots of tasty eats on our food tours! Check our tour calendar for more information on booking a tour.

7

Party Favors (Brookline, MA)

We would be amiss if we didn’t mention an old stand-by, Party Favors! Although we kind of like their cupcakes a tiny bit better, they make really delicious custom cakes. And their frosting is really good. Your guests will be delighted with a cake from Party Favors!

8

Lyndell’s (Somerville, MA)

I can’t walk in there without ordering two half moons, but anyways, their cakes are also very very delicious! With enough time, they can create a beautiful custom cake to your liking in a variety of flavors.

9

L.A. Burdick’s (Back Bay, MA)

For chocolate fans, we also recommend the chocolate raspberry cake at LA Burdick’s. This is the kind of cake that you can give a co-worker and not feel badly because it’s elegant, it’s delicious, its small, and it just hits the spot.

10

Lady M Cake Boutique (Back Bay, MA) – Crepe Cakes

Talk about layers upon layers, this Newbury Street spot is technically an international chain, but it’s really cool that we have one here in Boston.  This type of cake you’d never make at home because it’s just too much work! Each cake has over 20 layers, including soft cream and french crepes.

11

PAGU (Central Square, Cambridge, MA) – Cheesecake

You can sample delicious Japanese tapas from PAGU on our Tuesday Night Central Square Food and Mural Arts Tour, which is actually really great for birthday groups as well! There are so many fun things to do in Boston and Cambridge on your birthday! But did you know they also have incredible desserts including their famous olive oil polenta cake as well as their rotating flavors of cheesecake? Mmm!

Our food, donut and chocolate tours include the cost of all food and drinks and are a blast to do on your birthday! You can either book a public tour by checking out our tour calendar for details or you can join a private tour by emailing us to secure your date.

Happy birthday to you!!! And many more!!!
