Top French Fries in Cambridge and Boston
1
Bartley’s Burger Cottage (Cambridge, Massachusetts)
Established in 1960, Bartley’s is one of the oldest restaurants in Harvard Square. We go into lengthy history on our Harvard Square Food Tours about our memories and stories of spots like The Tasty, Elsie’s, Wursthaus, and the Greenhouse. We have been going to Bartley’s since we were kids, especially during our college days, and they are on our yummy Harvard Square French Fry and Pairings Food Tour! Try their yummy sweet potato fries are the crispiest you’ll ever taste with an original raspberry lime rickey — a great pairing and a drink with history. And while you’re there, check out their famous wall of burgers which lists specials from Masshole Burgers to Ozempic! If you want to visit Bartley’s with us, be sure to sign up for the Sunday tour.
2
Smoke Shop (Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA)
This off the beaten path spot makes their homemade bbq crinkle-cut fries smothered in cheese, beans, and pickled jalapeno — add the pulled chicken or burnt ends! Oh we are FANS! We love Smoke Shop and visit them on our Thursday night Harvard Square French Fry & Pairings Food Tours. And you know we LOVE a spot if we go there twice a week (and maybe more!) One of our favorite restaurants on our award-winning food tours of Boston. To cut or enhance the spice, we pair their delicious fries with a homemade mocktail, each week sampling a different variety to tantalize the taste buds!

3
Boston Burger Company (Various, Harvard Square, Cambridge)
Everything about this spot is wild over-the-top comfort food — and their fries are no exception. OK, maybe we like to dip them in their crazy #freakfrappes frappes — wouldn’t you? Join us on our Harvard Square French Fry & Pairings Food Tour to try them yourselves. Founded in 2009 by three friends obsessed with good food, these guys know their stuff! We developed a special menu for our tour with these folks, so you can chooose from an oreo or strawberry freak frappe and also fries such as their chicken caesar fries which is the perfect amount of crunch and flavor to their mumbo fries which sort of tastes like Indian umami goodness — not too spicy or sweet or savory – just perfection.
4
Saloniki(Cambridge, MA)
We often order Greek Food, and one of our favorites is greek fries which just hit the spot. Saloniki makes delicious fries that have a bit of parsley and feta. Mmmmm! Try them on our Harvard Square French Fry & Pairings Food Tour, and enjoy a sample with their peach lemonade — which comes in three flavors but we found the peach one to taste the best with the fries. Did you know greek fries are very popular in Greece a well? If you go to a local taverna, you’ll see patatas tiganites on the menu — they don’t even need ketchup — the feta and crispy friedness hit the spot! And we think our guests who are often local foodies will really enjoy the fresh feta crumbles on these fries – they have a distinct savory flavor that are really enhanced by the fresh oregano and double fried cooking method that makes them melt in your mouth without any oily or greasy residue — just pure tasty goodness! Come see what we mean!
5
Petit Robert (Boston, MA)
Have you tried their steak frites? So memorable! In fact, check their website for more information on their unlimited steak & frites deal for only $39 a guest. If you like french fries that are more on the crispy, thin side — great to pair with one of their excellent steaks — definitely visit here. I find I need to swirl it around in ketchup. But there’s nothing more satisfying than that perfect salty crunch.
Look forward to seeing you on our Harvard Square French Fry & Pairings Tour this week!
