Every year, Small Business Saturday (#smallbizsaturday) falls on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We love this annual reminder to shop small and shop local in Boston and Massachusetts.
Off The Beaten Path Food Tours is the definition of small business! We are also woman and minority owned. Our tours are run by independent guides, but the business itself including all of the wonderful tours and events are put on by two people: Lizzie and Sam who are working hard behind the scenes! They work over 80 hours a week on the tours to respond to your emails, update the website, keep track of finances and receipts, manage relationships with our amazing vendors, create new tours, and craft the perfect guest experience. One night at midnight they may be printing out and a binder with historical information about the neighborhood a new guide is studying and then the next morning they may be meeting a new guide to do a practice tour of a neighborhood. On an afternoon they may be networking at a local Business Association Meeting and then taking a Photography Class that night to learn how to showcase their tours better on social media and their website. Or they may be presenting to a local concierge association one night while going door to door to different hotels to drop off flyers for their tours the next. It’s a labor of love, and while it’s fun, we work hard for guests like you and to put smiles on your faces! So worth it!
And best of all, when you support our small business through buying a gift card or taking a tour, you are supporting local small businesses as well! We purchase the food on our tours from local small businesses as well as promote them every chance we get. We love what they’re doing to bring new, fresh, independent concepts to our great state of Massachusetts!
So thank you so much for all you to do #shopsmall this holiday season!
xox,
Lizzie and Sam
