Here are our favorite donut places in Massachusetts (and the list is evolving!) Do you have any to add?
Saloniki (Harvard Square, Cambridge)
On our Harvard Square Chocolate Tour, we sample delicious greek donuts at this incredible spot full of Greek hospitality. They drizzle nutella on them, and for our tour we asked them to drizzle double — and top it with yummy baklava. It’s sinfully delicious and available on our weekly tours. SO YUM!
Union Square Donuts (Union Square, Somerville)
We kick off our Union Square, Somerville Food Tour on Saturdays with delicious and creative Union Square Donuts which has earned a reputation for some of the best donuts in Boston. They showcase new flavors weekly, and we are usually first in line to taste their jelly donuts in December, mmmm!
Dough Club (Harvard Square, Cambridge)
Harvard Square residents have been enjoying delicious mochi donuts at Dough Club, which opened on Church Street and also served their famous soft serve taiyaki. These are chewier than other donuts that you’d try, and you can squish more into your mouth!
Donut Villa Diner (Central Square, Cambridge)
Sundays are made for donuts, and we sample them on our Weekend Central Square Food and Mural Arts Tour at Donut Villa Diner. A local couple who live in the neighborhood purchased and expanded this local chain, and they added a strong vegan menu to the diner including delicious vegan donuts. On our tour we try their donut bread pudding also also taste test to see if we can tell which donuts are vegan!
Donuts with a Difference (Medford, MA)
We love this spot, but you have to go early or else they seem to run out of some flavors. They’re made fresh and are so easy to eat. Before you know it, six of them could be gone! 🙂
Linda’s Donuts (Belmont, MA)
We love this spot and afterwards try some lemonade nearby at Ovenbird and grab Sophia’s Greek Yogurt too! They have a yummy Boston Creme donut that many swear by, and it’s so authentic.
Chow down with us on our Food and Chocolate Tours. Check our tour calendar for more information on booking a tour.
Kane’s Donuts (Saugus, MA and Downtown Boston)
Sometimes all you need is a simple honey or chocolate glazed donut, and Kane’s does it so well.
Twin Donuts (Allston, MA)
This iconic spot is also a top instagrammable restaurant. They are owned by the same folks who own Cafe Mirror in Brighton. Their donuts are hit or miss to some, but we love their simple diner breakfasts accompanied by a donut and cup of joe.
Doughboy (South Boston, MA)
Hop over to South Boston to try a Doughboy any time of day or night – some of their late night donuts are super fresh! Theyre open 24/7 and even have a drive-through so there’s literally nothing stopping you.
Davis Square Donuts and Bagels (Davis Square, Somerville)
One of our favorite donut spots is in Davis, and they have really yummy maple donuts as well as unique flavors, some that even include marshmallow fluff which Somerville is known for — try them on our Davis Square Food Tour!
Blackbird Donuts (South End, Boston)
Dense and like eating a stick of butter, these donuts are creative and rich. We love sampling them also from the kiosk inside the student center in Harvard Square.
Mass Hole Donuts (Somerville, MA)
Ever looked at a munchkin and realized it could be so much more? Well Mass Hole Donuts are just that – very very decadent indulgent munchkin donut holes. So much fun, and you can bring them to friends you’re trying to impress.
The Donut Stand (Southborough, MA)
Farther away down on Route 9 past Natick, you can try these yummy donuts.

Back Door Donuts (Fenway Park, Pop-Up)
Way back when, we used to eat these delicious donuts on Martha’s Vineyard when it was literally procured late night at some sketchy back door – haha – but it looks like they’re popping up near the baseball field. Could this mean Landsdowne Street is slated to get a new donut shoppe? Right now it’s in partnership with Loretta’s Last Call.
Gail Ann’s Coffee Shop (Arlington, MA)
We come from Boston, so we are familiar with the famous “cruller” and are always impressed when we actually find one. Many locals love going to Gail Ann’s for breakfast.
And shout to our favorite donut day trips outside of Massachusetts:
- Holy Donut (Portland, Maine)
- Knead Donuts (Providence, RI)
- Lil’s Cafe (Kittery, Maine)
Happy dunkin’,
