When you live in Boston, Massachusetts you often roll your eyes at the massive traffic panic that hits the southern states when even one inch of snow falls on their unprepared highways. Here in Boston, we pride ourselves on being hearty New Englanders who don’t put their lives on hold as soon as the weather turns cold! Here are some of our favorite Boston winter activities:
Snow Shoeing and Cross Country Skiing
If you’re not a downhill skiier (our state isn’t exactly known for its downhill slopes) or even if you are, we love our snow shoeing and cross country skiing here in Boston. If you own your own set of equipment, feel free to venture out on your own path. There’s some great courses in Concord for example or outside the De Cordova Sculpture Park in Lincoln, MA where you can also snowshoe around the outdoor sculptures. You can also venture out to the Weston Ski Trail which has cross-country skis to rent and a hilly golf course to enjoy.
Take an Off The Beaten Path Food Tour as a winter activity in Boston
Our tours run year-round, rain or shine. We provide the hand warmers and warm beverages, and you provide the enthusiasm and positive attitude! Our tours are designed to be flexible to meet the needs of our guests: whether you want to walk more or less, we’ll be there to accommodate. And you’ll be spending the majority of your time eating inside restaurants, so you’ll love this winter-time activity.
Outdoor Ice Skating
Grab your hot chocolate and explore and outdoor rink. Perhaps you’d like to check out the Kendall Square Cambridge Community Rink? Actually if you take our Kendall Square Food Tour on Saturdays at 2pm, you can go ice skating right after only a few steps away from our final stop! Here’s our full list of where to go ice skating around Boston.
Drive to Look at Christmas Lights
Although it can change often, there are some epic Christmas light displays in Massachusetts. Our favorites include: Somerville lights, mansions on Pond Street near Jamaica Plain, and more!
Enjoy Boda Borg in Malden
If you’d like to spend some time indoors, one of our favorite activities is Boda Borg in Malden, MA which is a Swedish concept that is a lot of fun with really cool indoor challenges that are a combination of brain teasers and escape the room events.
Whatever you do this Winter, we hope you have a lot of fun! Join us year-round on our food tours and chocolate tours. View our Tour Calendar to learn more.
