Looking for michelin star restaurants in Boston or Cambridge? James Beard award winners in Boston? Well we visit a lot of high end restaurants on our tours, and we also love showcasing the best of Boston! Here is our guess of what could earn a star or two in our fine city.

Michelin Star Restaurants in Boston and Cambridge

Did you know the michelin guide arrived in boston in November 2025?

Prior to 2025, Michelin does not review Boston or Massachusetts, but we imagined the following restaurants could have make the cut! Sadly, some of our favorite Michelin-style restaurants like Tasting Counter have closed, but Boston and Cambridge certainly have a number of Michelin-star deserving spots!

Did you know that MeetBoston in the past declined to pay for the Michelin guide? It’s a lot of money, up to one million dollars, and we are still a smaller city! However, many advocates think that Michelin stars could improve the restaurant scene here, and it is finally here in Boston in November 2025. Here are our candidates, do you agree?

1

O Ya (Boston, MA)

We definitely included this grand sushi place on our post about the Best Tasting Menus in Boston and Best Omakase in Boston. They did not make a Michelin mention yet.

2

PAGU (Cambridge, MA)

Boston does have James Beard award finalists, and Chef Tracy Chang is a semifinalist for Best Chef: Northeast with her restaurant PAGU which was nominated as Outstanding Restaurant in 2023. We visit PAGU on our Tuesday night Central Square Food Tour. Join us and learn how incredible this restaurant is for all who visit! Congratulations to PAGU, who received a BIb Gourmand mention for “good quality, good value cooking.” Amazing!

3

Sarma (Somerville, MA)

Well if you watch The Bear, you may laugh and think that Sarma doesn’t have near good enough table service to warrant a Michelin star. But because of Chef Sortun’s legacy and the incredible and consistent food, we would put this neighborhood gem on our list! They did not make a Michelin mention yet.

4

Giulia (Cambridge, MA)

We have consistently loved this Italian hotspot neighborhood gem outside of Porter Square in Cambridge, and it’s still impressive how hard it is to get a reservation there after all of these years – for good reason! Congratulations, Giulia became a Michelin recommended restaurant!

5

Nightshade Noodle Bar (Lynn, MA)

Another stand-out on our Best Tasting Menus round-up and James Beard award-winning chef is this creative and fun spot outside of the city. Congratulations, Nightshade became a Michelin recommended restaurant!

6

Mason’s (Quincy, MA)

We were just blown away by Mason’s while researching our Quincy Food Tour, and they are certainly Michelin-worthy from their incredible steak to their unique and fanciful desserts. Best of all, we visit them Sundays on our food tour for showstopper croissants and more. They not receive a Michelin mention yet.

7

Mooncusser Fish House (Boston, MA)

Seafood is our THING here in Boston, so we wanted to include what we thought would be a Michelin rated seafood experience. Although Neptune Oyster could also make this list in our book, Mooncusser is creative and exciting, not to mention a delicious meal! Congratulations, they became a Michelin recommended restaurant!

8

Wa Shin (Boston, MA)

Again on our list of best Omakase in Boston, we truly appreciate the thoughtfulness of this 18-course omakase dining which refers to the “harmony of the heart.” Congratulations, they became a Michelin recommended restaurant!

9

UNI (Boston, MA)

An expanded version of Clio in the Eliot Hotel, UNI is driven by Ken Oringer who also created Toro and Little Donkey in Central Square, Cambridge. UNI primarily serves sashimi, makimono, and nigiri in addition to daily tasting menus. They did not receive a Michelin mention yet.

10

SYCAMORE (Newton, MA)

Dubbed a neighborhood bistro that changes seasonally, we have long appreciated this restaurant which offers stellar eats and unique and creative drinks and desserts. They did not receive a Michelin mention yet.

11

Pammy’s (Cambridge, MA)

Having lived next door, Pammy’s has been in our line-up for a long time – especially their yummy bolognese – and we hope that Michelin recognizes this important neighborhood spot outside of Central and Harvard Squares. Congratulations, they became a Michelin recommended restaurant!

Here’s the rest of the list:
